Description

The CFE IV Warmer Model 3000 is a portable IV fluid warmer that holds and warms one or two intravenous fluid bags, each containing up to 1000ml of fluid. This is our flag ship product and the latest generation of our famous & patented "Hot Sack". It is also the foundation for other specialized product lines. The standard version of the Fluid Warmer will warm fluids to 38C (nominal), while the arctic version will warm them to 41C (nominal).

Each Fluid Warmer is made in the USA using Cordura fabric and fire resistant closed-cell insulation. Its bright "international safety yellow" color makes it easily recognizable during the controlled chaos of a rescue operation. The Fluid Warmer has a soft shell containing an insulated warming chamber with two snap hooks for fluid bags, a cord storage pouch on its front, a six-foot power cord, and "hook-and-loop" material on its bottom for attaching optional Insulated IV Sleeves.

The "surface" duty IV Fluid Warmer is the standard item and comes with a cigarette lighter power plug that has a protective fuse in its tip. This Warmer is intended for surface vehicle or in-clinic duty. The power plug fits into the cigarette lighter receptacle found in most surface vehicles.

Use and Operation

Using the IV Fluid Warmer Model 3000 is quite simple. A care provider only needs to...

  • Unzip and open the warming chamber,
  • Hang one or two IV fluid bags from the snap hooks,
  • Zip the warming chamber closed, then
  • Connect the Fluid Warmer to an appropriate power source.

The Fluid Warmer can be used while either hanging by its strap or laying on its back. Two room temperature 1000ml fluid bags will come to temperature in less than an hour, refrigerated bags will need about 1½ hours.

Dispensing the warmed intravenous fluids is also just as simple...

  • "Spike" the IV fluid bags while they are still inside the Fluid Warmer,
  • Let the lines hang out from the bottom of the Fluid Warmer, then
  • Zip the top and side of the warming chamber closed.

This allows delivering warmed fluid directly to the patient while the fluid that remains in the IV Fluid Warmer stays warm. It will not be damaged when operating with empty fluid bags or with an empty warming chamber. Once removed from power, the fluid will typically lose about ½C or less every ten minutes in a room temperature environment when the warming chamber is filled with two warmed 1000ml fluid bags.
